At ArchSD we seek continual improvement in our sustainability performance as outlined in our department annual plan. To this end, departmental annual plan is formulatedand four strategic focus areas are identified for improvement.

Achievements in 2022

  1. Applied innovative construction technologies in various types of projects to promote and scale up new concepts and technologies through wider adoption.
  2. Explored and used robotics and drone applications in new works projects and facilities maintenance to enhance internal processes, smart workflows, business facilitation and quality of professional services.

Targets for 2023

  1. Adopt innovation and new techniques to enhance internal processes, smart workflows and business facilitation and to uplift overall productivity, quality and safety in facilities development and upkeep.
  2. Promote applied R&D, new materials and digitalisation of public works to cultivate new concepts and technologies through wider adoption in our projects.

People-centric Design

Achievements in 2022

  1. Conducted knowledge sharing and studies for ArchSD staff on human-centred design, building resilience, sustainable development, net zero and other environment related issues throughout the year.
  2. Collaborated with Radio Television Hong Kong to produce the “Everyday Design – School Projects” programme to build wider recognition for our work.

Targets for 2023

  1. Promote inclusive, sustainable and green building designs and strive towards carbon neutrality in design and construction of liveable Hong Kong to enhance the well-being of the city and its citizens.
  2. Engage stakeholders through wider participation and various communication channels & platforms to understand people’s needs and to building up wider consensus and recognition of our works.

Achievements in 2022

  1. Honoured with two Gold, one Bronze and two Meritorious Awards in the Civil Services Outstanding Service Award Scheme 2022, which encourages continual improvement and a can-do attitude among ArchSD staff.
  2. Organised a series of public activities through “We-Build Forward” to celebrate HKSAR’s 25th Anniversary and staff engagement projects, “Home Group” community voluntary work and “Lunchat” sessions with the aim of developing a sense of purpose, recognition and team spirit in serving the community.

Targets for 2023

  1. Empower a new generation and groom talent to foster a sense of purpose, recognition and team spirit in serving the community and to promote a professional image.
  2. Encourage continual improvement and cultivate resilience and a can-do attitude to accept challenges amid normalcy as well as critical times.

Achievements in 2022

  1. Implemented various corporate intelligence projects to streamline processing time and save paper.
  2. Developed Digital Works Supervision System (DWSS), including Smart Site Safety and e-Material Submission, to promote a work smart culture and harness benefits of digitalisation.

Targets for 2023

  1. Trim & streamline cumbersome procedures and obsolete practices to spur change for higher efficiency and effectiveness.
  2. Promote a work-smart culture and harness benefits of digitalisation, e-workflows and new information technology.
