Heritage Building Information Modelling for Cultural Heritage Conservation at Tai Fu Tai Mansion

Transcript

Description

Tai Fu Tai Mansion is a declared monument built in around 1865 (i.e. the 4th year of Tongzhi of the Qing Dynasty). The project is about developing a Heritage Building Information Model (HBIM) for Tai Fu Tai Mansion to enhance heritage conservation and upkeep of the historic fabrics. It is the first government-owned Chinese style monument in Hong Kong utilising HBIM for facilities upkeep and retention of archival records for declared monument.

With the adoption of photogrammetry and historical research, the existing building fabrics, architectural and historical merits could be accurately collected for building up the HBIM, site evolution and archival records of the monument. Some animations were also produced as easier means for knowledge retention and education so as to facilitate the understanding of certain construction sequence of some important heritage elements.
