With the continuous increase in our ageing population, the need for improving not only physical but also mental well-being of elderly people.
The main objective of this project is to create a new type of elderly clinic that uplifts the traditional environment of elderly health center.
Principles of elderly friendly design are implemented via layout planning, interior design, signage, finishing materials, furniture and amenities.
Tuen Mun Wu Hong Elderly Heath Centre is an "Urban Retreat" for local elderly to receive high-quality medical services and treatments. Through elderly-friendly design, patients’ psychological and physical needs are addressed.
The overall design principles are based on simple layout and circulation planning. The main corridor serves as an axis connecting the reception lobby, waiting area, landscaped gardens and various function rooms. Elderly patients are welcomed by a spacious reception counter and waiting area.
The introduction of natural lighting through the new landscaped gardens into the waiting area and treatment rooms enhances the integration of outdoor and indoor environment and induces a positive mentality for elderly to receive medical treatment and to heal.
The use of vibrant colors and graphic representation with pine, bamboo and plum blossom from Classical Chinese paintings to interpret the valuable virtues in Chinese culture on walls which is a contemporary interpretation of traditional aesthetics.
