Tsing Yi Southwest Leisure Building

Description

Tsing Yi Southwest Leisure Building
Sitting on top of a natural hillside, the Tsing Yi Southwest Leisure Building consists of a Sports Centre and an Indoor Swimming Pool serving nearby residential. Visitors are welcomed by the building’s inviting Entrance Plaza and eye-catching walkway with folding canopy. They are then led into the central spine of the building connected to various sports facilities.

Dynamically articulated architectural elements such as tilted external walls, folded cement-board main façade, punch-holed main building signage, and feature seating are provided throughout the building. They represent the strength and vibrancy of sports and create spatial interest. The Centre provides a stylish and artistic social gathering space for the young generation. The black-coloured tilted steel plates express a bold statement of strength. They work with raw fair-faced concrete and contrasting white walls to form a contemporary interior.

Aluminium ceiling with undulating form, which resembles the body movement in butterfly stroke, is provided in the swimming pool. At one end of the pool, a full height glass wall is provided for the swimmers to look out to the distant view of Tsing Yi cityscape. The northern wall of the building is where the outdoor climbing wall locates. Given its prime location overlooking a steep hillside, climbers are guaranteed to have a thrilling and extraordinary experience. Skylights and glass walls are introduced at various locations to maximize daylight into the interior. Three tiers of landscaped lawn are provided as places for leisure, outdoor activities and sports ground for toddlers.
