As a contractor for the design and construction of redevelopment of Queen Mary Hospital (QMH) Phase 1, we work closely with ArchSD to improve the hospital environment for patients, medical students, academic partners and people of QMH. In this project, we are involved in a feasibility review with ArchSD for the application of Modular Integrated Construction (MiC) in hospital construction, bringing us profound insights on sustainable development in construction project. Since the commencement of the project, ArchSD has always been engaging us in an open dialogue that embodies mutual respect, in order to achieve effective communication and interaction.

ArchSD's determination and proactiveness in maintaining and improving project quality and construction safety, are clearly reflected at all stages. In the pre-work meetings at pre-construction stage, ArchSD advises us on how to actively and effectively respond to existing project constraints and challenges. Beyond fulfilling statutory and contractual requirements, numerous meetings and workshops are organised for the implementation of environmental health and safety measures, which also contribute to achieving our mutual target of 'nuisance-free construction'. During the construction stage, ArchSD carries out monthly site visits to provide advisory services on affairs relating to environmental protection, health and safety on project sites.

ArchSD takes the lead to promote smart and innovative construction in the industry. Building Information Modelling (BIM) has been successfully utilised in the QMH project for site planning and construction, which minimises abortive works and material wastage. In addition, a 'Care and Control Centre' with digital platform to monitor the data on sites in real time is in place.

ArchSD also encourage its partners to strive for excellence and improve industrial standards. The quarterly-issued 'Contractor Performance Report' comprehensively assesses the quality of our work. Contractors' efforts and contributions in achieving sustainability are recognised in various annual incentive schemes, such as 'Green Contractor Award (GCA)'. The award provides participants precious opportunities to exchange insights and keep us abreast of the industry best practices, thereby raising the benchmark in the construction industry.

In all, the partnership with ArchSD is fruitful and constructive that contributes to sustainable development of our company. Alongside with ArchSD's commitment in achieving sustainability, we hope to see continual efforts from ArchSD to realise its vision in sustainable and innovative construction.
